The Scenic Detour by Vanda Ralevska

Vanda took us on a wonderful eclectic and inspiring 'scenic detour' this week.  She demonstrated that whilst beautiful landscapes can make beautiful images, by looking at the small details as well, you can find beauty everwhere, whatever the weather, even on your own doorstep.  Vanda found herself badly affected by the Covid lockdown  and lost motivation.  But eventually, through her love of walking and focus on some simple projects initially, she picked up her camera once more and rediscovered her creative mojo.

Vanda has been a passionate photographer since her teens. Growing up in an industrial part of former Czechoslovakia, she learned how to appreciate the quiet scenes and intimate details found in nature. She finds her inspiration on the coast or in the countryside and is always seeking that rare moment of magic when the ordinary is transformed into extraordinary. Her images have a dreamlike, timeless quality and, although predominantly a landscape photographer, her work may also be abstract or quirky.

Vanda has had several successes in international competitions, including International Garden Photographer of the Year. She is a member of Arena Photographers and a co-founder of Landscapes by Women. Her work has been published in magazines and online and she regularly takes part in exhibitions, gives talks to photographic clubs throughout the UK, and lectures abroad.  Her website: https://mylenscapes.uk/
