Jonathan gave an inspirational, informative  and very entertaining talk to a packed club meeting, on Monday.  Beginning with 'the camera' his first suggestion was 'Think Inside the Box' - understand your camera and use it.  His approach is a very creative one - rarely taking a record shot, he uses all the creative options within his camera to abstract, distort, overlay, colourise etc. plus the techniques of slow shutter and deliberate camera movement (DCM) to create the image that he has already created in his mind's eye.  He emphasises that you can make an image from absolutely anything and demonstrated this with subjects ranging from architecture to a shower curtain, from a paving stone to a seaside town.  With minimal post-processing, his images were artistic and very much his own.  His prints were extremely high quality.  He would say 'this is not club photography'.  We would say that it is extremely inspiring and eye-catching.  (Click the above image to see other images.)  See Jonathan's website Blue Room Photo
