Polina is well-known for her distinctive flower portraits and still life imagery.  The many club members who attended this week's meeting were treated to a complete MASTERCLASS.  Polina was very generous and open, sharing her knowledge and tips, starting with the artists who inspired her, through her kit and how to appreciate flowers in all their forms - from the pristine, to the dying, dried and even dancing!  The talk was extremely well structured and delivered with clear technical detail and good humour, covering her flower portraits and still lives, created using surprisingly simple props and processes. A strong message from Polina was to try to envisage the image you want to create and pay attention to every detail - leave nothing to chance.

Apart from her photographic distinctions, Polina has received numerous awards including eight Gold and Silver Gilt medals in the RHS photography competitions and various distinctions at each of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competitions.  She also runs creative flower photography workshops on behalf of the RPS and is an Ambassador for Lensbaby.  Enjoy her images at her website:
